Minority School Grants

As discussed school grants our financial awards to prospective college students who demonstrate a financial need. There are literally school grants available for every cause a people group you can think of. Minority groups enjoy a number of grants to choose from. You may not even think you are a minority, yet when it comes to school grants you are classified as a minority, thus creating more opportunities for you to find the school grants if you need to finance your education. Just like any other specific school grants, minority grants are awarded based on minority status.

When most people give thought to minority grants they immediately think of grants given to individuals because of their ethnic status. In large part that is true. However, ethnicity is not the only factor in determining whether or not an individual can qualify for minority grant. Women for example are considered a minority, and there are many grants available specifically for women. Additionally prospective students with physical handicaps can find school grants established solely for them. Both of these examples would qualify as minority school grants

Typically the best place to find my minority grants is to contact the various minority foundations. For example the United Negro College fund provides grants for African-Americans. If you are a Native American you may be able to find grants available through the US Bureau of Indian affairs.

As is often the case large corporations offer grants. Larger corporations look at grants as a way to promote diversity and minority groups within their organizations.

As with any other school grants, you will need to file the FAFSA form in order to establish your status for qualifying for grants. Remember that grants are awarded based on financial need and FAFSA is the tool that is used to determine whether or not you have a legitimate financial need. All roads to financial aid, school grants and scholarships begin and end with your FAFSA application. There are thousands of grants available for minority students and you should pursue them, therefore you pay your own college tuition.
