South Dakota School Grants in 2012

The state of South Dakota offers financial aid to its students but the options for grants are not in abundant supply. The good news is that grant money is different than money that comes from loans because it does not have to be paid back. It is the South Dakota Board of Regents that dispenses the money to students who qualify for state grants. Here we look at the South Dakota grants for 2011 that are calling your name!

Ardell Bjugstad Grant Award

Here is a state grant in South Dakota that is a recent grant as of the past few years. South Dakota residents who are Native Americans who are planning to or who are currently studying agriculture in a postsecondary institution in the state can apply for the Ardell Bjugstad award that is administered by the Board of Regents. The money can be used for a natural resources management or agricultural management program of study at eligible colleges and universities in the state.

South Dakota Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate Scholarship

This grant, which is geared towards science and aviation students, is a grant and scholarship rolled into one. This grant money is awarded to undergraduate students who are working towards a degree in engineering, science, aerospace, aviation or some other related field. Both women as well as those that are members of minority groups are encouraged to apply for this grant.

Work-Study Program

The Work-Study Program is not a traditional form of a grant but it is a type of grant all the same. This program is a federally funded program and is not funded at the state level. The Work-Study Program makes it possible for both undergraduate students as well as graduate students who are financially in need of school money to find work that can help them to pay for all of their educational expenses. This program does its best to match students up with employment that is relevant to their courses of study. The colleges and universities in the state have their own individual work-study programs that students can apply to participate in.
